Last weekend I finished recording the final version of a hook I’d written for someone. A while ago they sent a sample of a beat saying they thought I’d sound good on it, I liked it and told them I could write something to it. They sent the full version and I was notified of their idea for the song concept, so we agreed to make this happen and I wrote accordingly for my role in the story. After finishing the lyrics I sent them a rough vocal idea and they liked the direction.
So once I got the okay, I got to work and continued building on my idea. it was a lot of fun and they seemed to be really happy with the result.
Now this week I’ve been working on a song for an upcoming project. It has been so much fun to write these lyrics. They’re turning out to be pretty savage haha. Honestly they’re sad too when you think about it. Had the concept for a while, it was just a matter of my mind putting the pieces together in the right places. I wrote the chorus first, then the second verse and the second prechorus. Did the first verse the next day, and intro and the first prechorus the day after that.
The vocal melody came to me pretty quick, which honestly surprised me cuz I had been stuck on that part for a while. But it just came at me out of nowhere. Once it did, lyrics flowed like crazy. Harmony and texture ideas came really fast too. Now it’s just a matter of making refinements which I’ll do during the final recording process. Can’t wait to start recording it properly! Also really happy that I’ll have it done way before the deadline next month.
