Hello, and welcome to my blog, Speaking Heartfully. Here, I discuss how I interpret songs and how they make me feel, with an emphasis on lyrics. I love wordplay, creativity, honesty and vulnerability, not to mention great rhymes. I love everything from deep and meaningful to playful and sassy. Of course I love a good vocal performance, catchy melody and great production, but this blog’s main focus will be on lyrical content. I also want to be clear that interpretations are subjective so it’s not wrong or meant to be offensive if yours is different than mine or vice versa. My opinions are based on my personal takeaways from the story, not based on the actual backstory behind it.
Also note that I can’t always just be a listener, relating and applying lyrics to my own experiences. Sometimes I do get into a song so much that I imagine myself as the person being written about or as the writer. I love to take on these perspectives to feel all the emotions associated with it and deduce the song’s potential meaning from that. as a result, you may notice that sometimes I share bits and pieces of situations I’ve been in or end up giving my two cents on the matter I feel the song discusses, from what might seem like an over the top angle LOL. I created this blog because I felt like I just needed a place where I could go into all the crazy details of emotions a song evokes for me in a free unfiltered way.
